I'm starting to get a bit tired, this will be 5 strong days of work, but thankful for my dad and friend Brian, and his son Evers that make things less difficult for me. Today we poured the concrete collar which is essentially a footer that gets poured behind the walls of the pool about 8-10" deep. This ensures the walls are locked in and don't move from here on out. We ordered 5 yards and had to wheel barrow about half of it because the truck can't reach the backside of the pool.
The very first wheel barrow load had my name on it and this is where it ended up, oops that stuff is no joke heavy and any little bump in the yard can throw you off...LOL
We finally got the hang of it and got the job done, here are a few more pics. Brian and I were on the wheelbarrows and dad finished off the equipment pad, reinforced the main drains, and set a new heavy duty water spigot by the pad.
Megan directed the entire show by directing where the loads went, and ensuring a level product by shoveling concrete around, laughing at me when dropping a whole load, making sure the patio protection stayed in place etc... She did great!
Megan made a boomerang
After the pour was done we sat down and ate a lunch in the shade, after that we started on to the next milestone which is getting plumbing installed. To do this you have to design your equipment pad, draw it out, make sure you have the functionality you want engineered in. Good thing my dad is an engineer, he made this easy! We made a parts list and went to HD later this evening to get everything we need to finish. We also installed the skimmer!
Last but certainly not least. we got the girls to put handprints on the pad, hopefully we can have a nice memory in the years to come!
Stay tuned to see what we get into next!
