I guess you could say we have been finished for a while now as many of you have been able to come and enjoy the pool with us this late part of Summer. But technically we had still had to pass our final inspection which I dragged my feet on because the rules are so specific.
- All pedestrian access points must open away from the pool
- be self closing and latched close
- all release mechanisms must be 54" from the grade level
- no space in entire perimeter will have a gap greater than 4"
- all doors (we have 2) must have alarm system
- Pool must have alarm
I will admit a couple of my solutions to meet this criteria were questionable but in the end our friendly inspector came out (within literally 16 hours of my request) and passed me on the spot. I got friendly with him when he inspected our home addition last year and I think he likes me!
We also went ahead and sodded the entire back yard because it was such a mess, I've never seen the process for doing this but they brought a whole dumbstruck of topsoil in and leveled everything, and scheduled a delivery from the sod farm day of. These guys had the whole yard covered in less than 30 minutes, it was cool to see. I have been watering every day for the past month and for the most part everything has taken well. We used Zoysia because of the high amount of shade, this has been a good time to lay sod with the sun where its at and the amount of rain we have received recently.
I took a few pics this afternoon to hopefully show you our project completed. Thanks to B Becky H. for donating a bunch of banana plants that we set in this afternoon, I hope they take and do well. Making things more tropical is super cool. The sad thing is the cool air is moving in and we won't be able to swim much longer before the water gets too cold and we prep for the hundreds of gazillions of leaves about to fall. I might keep it open in the Winter and use it as a cold plunge, who knows? Enjoy the pics and thanks for following me on my DIY journey!
